Community:Etiquette of Pages
The main purpose of the page is how to correctly make pages with the right, appropriate style as the wiki intended it to be, it's to help resolve conflicts between other editors on how pages should be written, any matters that aren't discussed on this page, please refer to the Wikipedia's manual of style. You must ensure you adopt this certain style to every page you create, you won't receive any warnings whatsoever, unless you continue to ignore instructions multiple times. If you are ever in doubt, feel free to join our discord server.
Page Structure
To prevent a huge page for users to just skim through and get confused, visit Page Structure for more information on how to structure wiki pages, as it describes fully in-detail on how we envision our pages to look like, as well giving proper advice, useful information on page formatting along with how templates work/how to use them.
Important Headers
Stubs
Usually not all pages are able to have information regarding them, so pages like that are marked as stubs, and required to do so.
Cleanup
Some pages can have a 'cleanup' header indicating a page needs a huge overhaul, because of unverified information, outdated style, etc.
Marked for Deletion
Sometimes pages can be marked for deletion, or not meeting a certain criteria.
- Pages (user, guild, game pages) can be removed by the request of the user, and must be verified that the user has in-fact requested a page deletion.
- There's a chance a page can be deleted if it is unable to be updated for 30 days, past the due date it'll be marked for deletion, unless information is filled out.
- A wiki administrator can either delete it for a cleanup, purging spam pages, maintenance or haven't been edited recently; simply abandoned.
- Pages may be deleted if they contain factual errors, formatting issues, or have not been edited recently, as stated in the previous bulletin point as well.
- Deleted because it violated a guideline, or a rule, which can also apply to user pages as well, mostly all pages can be deleted for the same reason too.
Pages can be moved, or have it's name changed under certain conditions If you believe a page that you've made was deleted for an unfair reason, or an error was made then don't be afraid to contact an administrator; they'll be able to assist you with your situation, furthermore recovering a page.

What to follow
Verifying Information
It's better to have your facts in check, rather than being wrong. All sources must be verified by a creditable source, these sources ranges from official employees to announcements posts & blogs. We will never mention any third-party or independent users, without any knowledge that it is seemed credible by officials. This only applies to controversies, events, and official updates, you may not need to worry about any infractions being set to your account.
What counts as a creditable source?
Any social media that is owned by Polytoria
- @polytoriagame on Twitter
- @polytoriagame on Instagram
- Livestreams detailing any events such as Twitch.
Official websites/community servers owned by Polytoria such as:
Other sources listed here can vary from:
- Any active developer that is currently operating on polytoria, and providing information.
- The polytoria forums, specifically the announcements category.
- Archive.org for lost media that can eventually be recovered.
Staying Neutral
Pages must always be written from a neutral standpoint, free from any personal bias, when discussing content like controversies, user information, and feedbacks. Though they shouldn't be presented as facts, unprovable opinions can be offered by referencing interviews, official statements and from other notable sources but they must never be portrayed as facts. If contradictory claims are made by many sources, the sources should be cited rather than the claims being presented as facts. While there can be multiple editors writing a page, keep in mind that you should set your ego on the side because whatever material you mention won't result in any major consequences, but will affect your reputation here as an editor, it's better to have a good moral ground than a bad one.
Meets Standards
The page must meet etiquette standards, a page with at least one or two sentence is not sufficient to be a page and may be marked for deletion, however there can be certain exceptions such as stubs.
Upon writing a page and publishing, it must include:
- A filled-out infobox with detailed information.
- Decent amount of information has been written for the page.
- Should have a relevant image/topic within the page.
What to avoid
This part is usually directed towards new editors, or those who have been editing for awhile but haven't reviewed our etiquette yet, don't fret we've got you covered!
Bloating
A specific developer, experience, group, or other subject should not be covered in-depth to the point that it contains details that only a small number of writers may find relevant or fascinating.
- Unnecessary trivia facts such as: "This person likes the color red, it must mean that this individual likes superman!"
- Why a certain topic is well known: "The Polytoria Showcase features an award ceremony that praises certain users for their hard work towards the community."
- Recruitment, or an advertising tool that uses the wiki to garner more users for their own guild: "Join the Cone of Beginnings army, link in the description!"
Use of Gender Pronouns
Refrain from using gender pronouns such as he/him, she/her, etc, this is used to avoid assuming genders, by respecting the gender/identify of an individual, so the use of neutral pronouns would be most preferred when writing pages such as they/them. Unless if the person has given a direct thumbs up, then most definitely you can include gender pronouns. Don't worry folks, we aren't going woke.
Personal Information
Most of the time, users do not want personal information regarding their full name, date of birth, age, real-life appearance, it can vary depending on how much they want to reveal.
What you can include, once again there are restrictions that have to be made:
- The user is an adult, most countries have 18 years old as a default age.
- An image of the user was directly posted online on other social media platforms, and is perfectly fine with their image being shown on the wiki with explicit permission.
What you cannot include:
- Leaked confidential information regarding a certain user, such as an entire reveal of the user's face, personal relationships, etc.
- Not deliberately taking your time to dig through a user's social profile and adding information to the pages as well.
Other personal details should be assumed to remain confidential unless allowed an exception under certain situations. Posting of a user's physical location (such as state/province/territory, is not allowed under most circumstances, and is prohibited without first consulting to any administrators. If you've seen sensitive information being displayed in one of the pages, and would like for it to be removed then please immediately contact an administrator for a removal.
Misleading Information
Writing unverified, extremely misleading information, defamation and serious allegations without any proof to backup claims is prohibited and is subject to removal by an administrator.
No Personal Pages
We strictly forbid users to create their own pages, it's to prevent multiple pages to suddenly pop up, we have to look into pages to verify information or usually can be created for 'jokes', some pages can have rather personal bias (praising themselves, etc). If you want to find out when's the right time to have your own page, re-visit page requirements.
Usage of AI Generators
We strictly forbid users to use an AI generator (OpenAI, ChatGPT etc.) to create any wiki pages, mainly because it's machine-written and wasn't created by a human being. If you are new to creating wiki pages, please write them yourself. Additionally, you can also look at any other pages to get inspiration for what you should be writing. If any AI generated text is detected, a page rewrite will be done immediately.
